Operations Manager
Job Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of managing the day to day operations of their assigned location. In addition, they will analyze and implement operational and strategic initiatives to achieve success and continuous improvement.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
• Provide leadership and overall management for Production, Customer Service, Purchasing and Logistics/Warehouse departments
• Execute and support vertical operations metrics to achieve Barentz' overall objectives, consistent with corporate practices
• Review quality procedures and processes, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help support and lead initiatives where necessary
• Participate in corporate Regulatory and Safety committees and ensure compliance throughout the assigned vertical
• Lead by example by supporting and reinforcing Barentz' culture, pillars and fundamentals
• Improve the level of service offered to our customers and suppliers via unique and new service initiatives
• Identify and make recommendations for short and long term departmental strategies
• Improve logistics, warehouse, and production operations for assigned vertical and share best practices throughout Barentz
• Identify and implement improved inventory management practices
• Serve as a "power user" and champion of our ERP, CRM, OverDrive and TMS systems with the ability to support existing staff and help onboard new employees
• Work closely with all departments to improve communications, efficiencies and our ability to Create Customer Success ®
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment and ensure housekeeping program is followed and maintained
• Responsible for ensuring equipment maintenance is performed regularly
• Evaluate new equipment and techniques and make recommendations to improve
• Identify necessary resources, tools and/or people to achieve departmental objectives
• Monitor metrics, analyze trends and make recommendations based on available information
• Make recommendations and support ongoing development for all direct and indirect reports
• Participate in ongoing personal development opportunities
• Generate reports as requested
• Participate in various projects individually and/or team based as a representative of Operations
• Perform other duties as requested
Qualifications
• Previous experience (7+ years) in production, distribution, warehousing or operations with at least 5 years in management
• Bachelor's Degree in business or related field required, advanced degree preferred
• Previous regulatory and/or safety experience a plus, especially in the chemical industry
• Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
• Must be self-motivated, possess high energy, and an engaging level of enthusiasm and positive outlook
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to adapt communication style to the audience as needed
• Software knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) And Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
• Act legally and ethically in all professional relationships in adherence with Barentz' culture, values and fundamentals
• Ability and desire to work in a team environment required
• Must be able to effectively prioritize work assignments for self and others
• Proven ability to resolve potential conflicts and develop others
