Vice President, Principal Management - Plastics
The Vice President Principal Management is responsible for growing the plastics market vertical as well as managing both current and future principal supplier relationships. The primary responsibilities include close collaboration with the VP of Sales (plastics), Technology Manager, our sales team, marketing, and suppliers. The VP Principal Management will be responsible to integrate the strategy of our Principals through our sales team and manage all aspects of the Principal Supplier relationship.
Essential Duties and responsibilities*
• Maintain, grow, and develop current suppliers through increased volume, gross profit, product mix, and strategic portfolio expansion
• Responsible for new supplier development - New Principal Opportunity Pipeline
• Business development in conjunction with commercial teams for targeted Principals
• Principal administration/relationship management (assigned list)
• Perform competitive analysis on potential new Principal and Target Principals to secure from existing channels
• Develop and execute business plans for assigned Principals
• Partner with Principals and VP, Sales - Plastics to develop growth programs that deliver high value to our customers and above average mutual profitable growth
• Significant communication, coordination, and travel to Principals in their home markets (Asia, Europe)
• Activity tracking/analysis including the following
• P&L – profitable growth
• Principal KPI’s – pipeline development/target accounts/lead generation
• Samples
• Competitive analysis
• Market trend analysis
• Communications including, but not limited to, the following:
• Open flow of communication with Sales, Principals, Management, Operations, and Safety/Compliance
• Coordination of product and market training
• Marketing programs in conjunction with Barentz/Principal Marketing teams
• New product launches
• Supplier performance reviews
• Collaborate across all verticals with other Principal Managers for maximum leverage to support opportunities throughout Barentz
• Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures
• Support and lead by example, Barentz’ culture, values and fundamentals
• Participate in ongoing personal development opportunities
• Other duties as requested
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry of other sciences required, Master’s preferred
• Minimum 15 years industry experience (plastics, stabilizers-additives, specialty chemicals, manufacturer of paints/coatings, polymer products or elastomeric industries)
• Project management experience
• Supplier and business development experience required, preferably in a global environment
• Ability to develop meaningful/productive business relationships at all levels to gain alignment in support of Barentz
• Technical sales focus with specialty products
• Experience in the procurement of specialty additives and stabilizers
• Exceptional organizational, planning, communications, and negotiation skills
• Strong computer/technical skills
• International business skills, specifically Asian experience and travel
Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical office setting where the temperature is maintained throughout the year. Some travel may be required. There may be exposure to production and laboratory facilities where proper PPE is required.
