Synthesis Solutions
Ferric Ammonium Sulfate, also known as iron alum or Ammonium iron(III) sulfate, is a double salt that consists of compounds and appears violet in crystal form. There has been some debate regarding the cause of the color, as some say it’s due to impurities in the compound while others say it’s because of the crystals themselves. In terms of use, this particular chemical is used in wastewater treatment, tanning, and it’s actually an etching agent in the production of electronic components, which means it’s critical in helping to produce them. Additionally, it has been used in several different applications such as refrigeration equipment, biochemical analysis and organic synthesis to name a few.
