Propanol-2, IPA (CMOS, 32 LB Pail, 9059-08)

Synthesis Solutions
Best known by the common name of isopropyl or rubbing alcohol, this common household chemical is used in antiseptics, cleaning agents, disinfectants, and various degreasers and detergents due to its exceptional properties as a solvent. Propanol 2- is miscible in water, ethanol, ether, and chloroform, though it is not miscible in aqueous saline solutions such as a solution of water and sodium chloride. Oxidizing propanol 2- creates acetone, which is its corresponding ketone. This CMOS grade variant of propanol 2- has a high purity level in order to make it an effective solvent for cleaning silicon wafers and printed circuit boards in microprocessor manufacturing and design. As propanol 2- evaporates at room temperature, it is ideal for rinsing, cleaning, or dipping silicon microprocessor components in order to remove any possible contaminants without leaving a residue. It is also ideal for dissolving ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl butyral, oils, alkaloids, gums, and natural resins used as adhesives for labels, packaging, and protective coatings.
