klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc.

Though klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc is part of the klucel™ brand family, it is not the same as klucel™ hpc. It conforms to the requirements of the low-substituted hpc monograph and has fewer hydroxypropoxy groups on the cellulose backbone. This lower substitution results in physical chemical properties that differ from traditional klucel™ hpc grades.

Capping is one of the most common tablet manufacturing problems. It is a critical quality issue that can result in significant yield loss. Capping is caused by a number of factors, such as powder blend composition, physical properties, and manufacturing conditions. One way to resolve capping issues is to enhance the binding properties of the formulation. The binding

properties of klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc reduce pressure and ejection force during tableting, thus reducing tablet friability and capping.

Rapid disintegration and dissolution

Klucel ls™ low-substituted hpc is insoluble in water. It absorbs water and substantially swells in volume enabling rapid tablet disintegration unlike klucel™ hpc which is soluble in water and used primarily as a binder in oral solid dosage forms and rheology modifier in liquid systems.
