Chemical Inhibitor Solutions

In chemical manufacturing, inhibitors are needed to ensure that the desired chemical reaction proceeds efficiently and produces the desired product with the desired purity. Without inhibitors, unwanted reactions can occur, which can lead to decreased yield, poor-quality products, and even safety hazards.

Common types of inhibitors include antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors, and polymerization inhibitors. These can be added at various stages of the manufacturing process, such as during storage or transportation, to prevent unwanted reactions from occurring.

Barentz has a full portfolio of chemical inhibitors for your needs, as well as a technical sales team and full-service laboratory to support your business in manufacturing your producs.

TBC

4-Tert-Butylcatechol

CAS #: 98-29-3

Tertiary Butyl Catechol (TBC) is an exceptionally specialized inhibitor renowned for its efficacy in curbing polymerization in products like butadiene and styrene, along with other unsaturated hydrocarbons.

It also functions as an antioxidant and stabilizer for polyethylene, silicone rubber, heptane, vinyl pyridine, and dicyclopentadiene. In stannic tin catalysts and urethane foams, TBC is used as a chelating agent. TBC is a free radical scavenger, which can extend gelation time. It will not discolor styrene monomers, nor will it crystallize over time as will various hydroquinone type inhibitors.
