METHYLAL COSMETIC

Cosmetic grade methylal has a maximum water content of 0.5% water and a maximum methanol content of 0.0001%. It is commonly used as a solvent for flavors and scented oils in personal care formulations given its strong solvency power. It is especially useful in aersol formulations given its surface tension lowering properties to improve dispersion and lower droplet size. Methylal is an Acetal solvent (-30 degC flash point) that is manufactured from Methanol. It has high solubility power and tends to significantly lower the surface tension of formulations, making it an ideal solvent choice. It is used in applications including paint strippers, cleaners, cosmetic manufacturing, aerosols, and urethane foam manufacturing. As with all Acetals, it has an extremely low toxicity profile and is sustainable from an atmospheric chemistry perspective.
