Butrol 9149

Butrol 9149 is a multifunctional pigment for use in coatings as a corrosion inhibitor, tannin stain blocker, flame retardant, and ultraviolet light stabilizer. Because it is multifunctional, Butrol 9149 can replace several products commonly formulated into coating systems, simplifying formulating and lowering costs. Butrol 9149 is based on barium metaborate monohydrate. Due to the low refractive index (1.55–1.60), the product can be used in a wide variety of colors, whites, and even clears. Butrol 9149 is composed of substances approved for use under 21 CFR 1 7 6.180 of the US Food and Drug Administration regulations.
