Evabopol 196 S (EHTG) - The Evabopol portfolio offers a variety of widely compatible chain transfer agents (CTA) designed to provide our customers full application versatility with regards to their individual process. Our Evabopol product line derives from our product streams of thioglycolic acid (TGA) and mercaptopropionic acid (MPA). Based on these two acids we have developed a series of highly reactive chain transfer agents for the control of chain length and molecular weight distribution in free radical polymerisations. The Evabopol portfolio consists of the water-soluble acids TGA and MPA as well as a selection of water insoluble esters of these acids with different alcohols. Especially the nature of the alcohol has a significant influence on the diffusion behaviour of the CTA in the polymerisation process. Evabopol 196S is mainly used as chain transfer agent for free radical polymerization in solvent based or mass polymerizations as well as in emulsion polymerization processes.
